50 years after the historic Apollo 11 mission that landed the first humans on the moon, the Smithsonian is celebrating by releasing the results of a multi-year conservation effort of Neil Armstrong’s spacesuit. The effort to protect and display Armstrong’s suit also included sharing it with a wider audience. The National Air and Space Museum and the Smithsonian’s Digitization Program Office 3D scanned the suit, helmet, and gloves. The resulting 3D models, which have been fully annotated by the suit’s curator and conservator, are now available at 3d.si.edu/armstrong
