Notes

This is a moluscivorous species, highly dangerous to man even hours after capture. Variable form/color. Widespread and common in shallow water. Red Sea textiles seem to be whiter than most others. NMNH 1716382: Bot two from Rocan Shop in Zamboanga in Jan 1974 fpr $1.00. They are from Laminusa Is., Sulu Sea. NMNH 1716384: Bot one dark, large one from Moonyeen da Silva in Colombo, Sri Lanka, for $1.00. It is from Colombo Reef. August 1977. NMNH 1716377: Three sent by Dayrit Jan, 1983, from Siasi, Sulu. They are large. NMNH 1716380: One dark one bot from Coin Shellcraft when at our house June 1986. No data. $3.00. Perk. NMNH 1716383: I found one live one at Sharm el Naga (female camel cove) near Hurghada, Egypt, when we were there May 1987. It was in a space between rocky tabletop terrain in about 3' of water. It got ruined somehow before or in alcohol. Has perk and is 81 mm. NMNH 1716379: Also found one on same trip on Magawish Is., off Hurghada. It is 65 mm. and perked. NMNH 1716375: Two more small ones of 44 mm found at Sharm el Arab (more specifically - Sharm el Naga). One was empty, other has perk. Low tide in sand crevices. NMNH 1716381: In Feb. 1971, Lena Mae sent us a pretty small reddsih one from Truk Is. Called Cloth of Gold. NMNH 1718035: Also found a fresh dead baby cone with a pretty pink protoconch. It is the nicest one of my four babies.
