The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory is pleased to present a collection of 9 models that were created using images generated by the Chandra X-ray Observatory. The launch of this collection coincides with the debut of Chandra's most recent 3D model, IC 443, a supernova remnant located about 5000 light years from Earth. This current suit of Chandra 3D models features stars at various stages of the stellar life cycle. Through a variety of techniques and tools astronomers have captured data from Chandra and other telescopes from these stellar debris fields and constructed science-based simulations and 3D models.
